Haunted house? No joke. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Question by Kim: Haunted house? No joke. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Lived here over four years. My wife and I are 62 and expect some physical problems, but were never seriously ill or had any serious problems before moving in. House is old, built 1892. Divided into 2 separate apartments at some point, probably the 70s. No lead paint or anything like that. I Live upstairs, full 2 bedroom apt. Not bad, clean. Family downstairs has been moved in a little before we did. Here’s the problem. Everyone down there has become ill. Different things, serious back and joint problems with husband, psychotic episodes with wife. It’s been one thing after another. They’re young, 40, and nice people. The same type of stuff started occurring with wife and I two years ago. High blood pressure (230/120) for me when I finally checked it, high cholesterol. Several back pain. My wife started losing her vision and we found she had cataracts. Did the surgery and though her vision is good left eye still bothers her. She woke up one morning two years ago with sever pain in the shoulder. They did everything to her for months and nothing was found. She’s never been overweight and has never used sugar or drank soft drinks. Eats a real healthy diet, but was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol 2 weeks ago. The month before that I had to take her to emergency room for high heart beat (191) They fixed it with a special shot that re-regulates the heart. I developed kidney stones over the last several months, and three weeks ago woke up with a swollen knee. It’s super painful and I can hardly walk, but I absolutely did not injure it. It was just there in the morning just as my wifes shoulder. Here’s the point. A few months after we moved in I found myself looking at the stairway that leads down to the front door and thinking of a little girl. It sounds crazy but it seemed I could see or at least clearly imagine her. She’s about eleven and sits at the bottom of the stairs. I think she does come up here but only at night. She didn’t frighten me and until all this illness, that just keeps coming, I got no bad feelings. I mentioned to my neighbor and he said he was positive this place was haunted. Until last week I took none of it very seriously, however, my brother in law, who is a minister and who I haven’t seen in ten years visited. He took one step in the door and looked at me and said, “Do you know this place is haunted?” He is a very honest and down to earth man. I answered I did and we didn’t discuss beyond me saying I didn’t feel it was anything bad. Strangely the woman who lived here before us died shortly after moving, as did the woman who lived downstairs before the current neighbors moved in. One other thing that was odd was my best friend visited one day two years ago. We had coffee and at some point he said he wasn’t feeling well. He ended up in the hospital that night with a heartbeat of over two hundred and the same symptoms my wife subsequently suffered. My question is can places be bad? Has anyone ever heard of something like this associated with a house, or is this just my imagination from all these problems. I would appreciate any sincere comments. Thanks
Thanks to everyone for the thoughtful answers. It seems more and more obvious that there is little to lose in moving from here and possibly much to gain. Thank you again.

no way this is a coincidence. but there could be two options:

one is that there is a ghost or there is a type of haunting. case closed.

another is that there is some1 there that is poisoning every1, and the poison ill harm you, and then when people are moving, the person puts
deadly poison and kills them to mimic a haunting. but that wouldn’t explain your brother, if what u said was true. i say poison because i read a book kinda like this, where a monster mimicked illnesses by poisoning, so that no one would go near important people, or people who knew of the monster. this way it could live on and its master could continue his plans. just a theory :P i doubt it tho, unless theres something valuable in the area

Has anyone tried alternate day fasting diet?

Question by WHO: Has anyone tried alternate day fasting diet?
I’m interested. You basically eat whatever you want on your “on day” and your “off day” you eat little to nothing. It’s like you eat every other day. Studies have shown that rats and many other animals have increase their lifespan about 40% and also decrease risk for heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

I need to find a ulcer and dorm room friendly diet. Anyone know of a good site with recipes?

Question by princesspeachdeuce: I need to find a ulcer and dorm room friendly diet. Anyone know of a good site with recipes?
I only have a microwave in my dorm but I have an ulcer so I have to try and eat healthy out of a microwave. I can’t eat at the Dining Commons because almost everything is fried or greasy and their salads are just iceberg lettuce. Any good recipes, websites or easy snacks? I do have a small refrigerator/freezer that my roommate barely uses.
I have seen a doctor and i am on medication but i still need a ulcer friendly diet while it is healing and afterward.

Best answer:

Answer by bubbles
have you seen a doc about the ulcer thing because they are often caused by a bacteria called H-pylori and can be cured by antibiotic. Different foods bother different people with an ulcer. you need to know first what bothers you before anyone can help with a recipe list.

There must be 1000 diet plans out there and some work well
and some dont. It depends mostly on you, instead of the diet.
You can know everything there is to know about weight control

Has anyone tried The Cardio-Free Diet? Did it work?

Question by noils2: Has anyone tried The Cardio-Free Diet? Did it work?
I just finished the book. It sounds great. You eat up to 2000 healthy calories/day and do 20 minutes of hard strength training 3 times a week.

Best answer:

Answer by Steve D
It may sound good, but most medical and fitness experts seem to think it’s not a good idea to eliminate cardio training from your life. They think that Karas’s idea that “cardio kills” is based on studies of extreme ultra-endurance athletes, not on the average Joe or Jane who does 30 minutes cardio daily.

Here’s one article that gives a pretty balanced view: http://www.fitnessprogramsrevealed.com/fitness-articles/the-cardio-free-diet/

And here’s the ABC News coverage, which also featured several strong critics: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=3034686&page=1

Q&A: Does anyone know anything about selling Herbal Life wellness products as a home based business?

Question by jross_flamingwix: Does anyone know anything about selling Herbal Life wellness products as a home based business?
I have been approached to start a home based business which I have been searching for. I was very impressed with the business mentor, but through research have discovered them on several scam reports. I cannot afford to lose any $ so any info would be appreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by Lisa W
Follow your instincts. Personally, I chose not to venture into Herbal Life myself because I didn’t think it would be something I could really sell. But that was me and everyone has their own strengths.

When researching which home based business I wanted to get involved in, most importantly was finding something I could be passionate about and something people would continue to come back for. I found that Scentsy met those needs for me.

Do your research. Ask lots of questions and follow your gut. There are a lot of great companies out there. Good luck!

Lisa
