I need to lose a lot of weight, but am struggeling. No packaged diet food! All that is around here is potatoes, rich gravies, and breads! It is even hard to get meat in my city! Any tips?

I am on day 6 of the South Beach diet. I have been very strict about it and am even skipping the dessert. I rarely eat after dinner anyway. If I have a martini before dinner tonight and a glass of red wine with dinner will I destroy the ketosis stage I am entering?

Alcoholic beverages contain few carbohydrates, but the reason Dr. Agatston doesn’t allow them in Phase 1 is due to the way alcohol is converted by your body: It turns into sugar. This will cause your blood sugar to spike. Remember, the purpose of Phase 1 is to level out your blood sugar so cravings for “bad” carbs will subside and you’ll begin losing weight.

I eat low carb, and I inline speed skate for fitness…?
I know that most people eating low-carb focus on strength training. Does anyone have tips on eating low-carb while exercising high-intensity, high endurance? Has anyone read “Paleo diet for athletes”? I take Potassium supps, and a multivitamin, and will be limiting my carbs to 60 per day.

Man, thats like the atkins diet! Not healthy! You need carbs for energy!
More importantly its about eating the right kind of carbs than limiting them.
Like carbs in yogurt and cottage cheese, fruits ans veggies are great whereas, processed foods are the killer!
