Q&A: What are some popular diets that one would be able to write a compare-contrast paper about?

Question by i hate phil collins: What are some popular diets that one would be able to write a compare-contrast paper about?
I need to write a compare-contrast paper on two popular diets– I was wanting do use Weight Watchers as one, but I can’t decide on the second one.

I want to choose something that is very strict with the food– like nutrysystem or jenny craig.

what are some other “interesting” diets?
well, i wanted to do weight watchers becasue you can still eat whatever you want, but you’re watching calories, fat and fiber to create points….

jenny craig food is loaded with salt and so restrictive….

when i went on weight watchers after i had my baby, my diet consisted of coke, twinkies, water and cereal, and i still lost 3 lbs in a week……

the key is moderation!!!!!

How do low-fat diets work?

Question by Allison: How do low-fat diets work?
I just read somewhere about a girl losing weight by eating 25 grams of fat a day. So I’d like to know a little more about low fat diets. Like, what kind of food can you eat? How fast does the weight come off? Is it easier or harder to maintain the weightloss than it is with a low calorie diet, etc.

Any help is appreciated!

Weight loss relies on calorie intake, not fat grams. It’s another fad diet. Sure, fat has more calories per gram (9 as opposed to 4), but in consideration to weight loss, it’s determined by how much you take. So if you eat less fat of course you have more room to spare for other kinds of calories, from protein and carbs (4 per). Fat does not make you fat. Excessive calories do.

Any good low protein diets for a dog with Glomerulonephritis?

Question by Robert W: Any good low protein diets for a dog with Glomerulonephritis?
Our 7 year old Yorkie was diagnosed with Glomerulonephritis most likely from not having a liver shunt fixed until we adopted him July 06. The vet said to put him on a low but high quality protein diet. Does anyone know of a good low but high quality protein diet(s) for Glomerulonephritis.

California Naturals makes some lower protein CANNED foods…about 9% protein in the lamb & rice version. I needed a lower protein food for my Poodle, and so far, her problems are being kept at bay…I’ll be taking her in to the vet once a month for a few months just to be sure, but so far, so good!

Liquid diets……………………?

Question by Disappointment’s BFF: Liquid diets……………………?
Are liquid diets bad for you? Like when you only drink liquid for a couple weeks. WIll they screw up your metabolism?
By liquids I mean water, lemon water, skim milk, and Diet Green Tea with Citrus. And nothing else but those.

Good for your colon, bad for weight loss – your metabolism will bank out and you’ll only be burning like 600 calories a day. Eat 3 meals and your body will start burning about 1600-2000.
