1) Most employer provided health insurance is deducted “pre-tax” so there is no deduction on the tax return.

2) Your parents must be your dependents (or would have been your dependents except for the gross income test) for you to take a deduction anyway. So, unless you are supporting them: No.

Sounds like some kind of Science diet scam food thing to me. Your vet is getting kickbacks from Science Diet for recommending food like this. If you need to switch your dog’s food to improve overall health, consider switching to a high-quality grain-free food. And it would be cheaper than anything Science Diet makes.

My husband has health insurance through his employer. His brothers daughters don’t have any at all, and they live right next door to us so that are frequently here. Is there a way to allow them to be on our health plan without actually “adopting” them. Please help!
